We have been planning for quite some time to take Kana to Sea World. But we haven’t got the time, until last Sunday. We finally went to Sea World Indonesia, which is located in Ancol. It was an unplanned trip — a very exciting unplanned trip.
We arrived at Sea World around 4 PM because we went to our relative’s house first. When we arrived, it was not crowded at all. In fact, we found it very comfortable for us and also for Kana to wander inside the Sea World.
After purchasing the tickets, we went inside. The tickets range from IDR 42.000 – IDR 72.000. There, we found the Rainforest Aquarium, followed by Arapaima Aquarium, Dugong Aquarium, Arowana Aquarium and many other Aquariums. There were also a Museum, Library, Touch Screen Computers, Theatre, and the Fish Dip. Outside the arena, there were Gift Shops for buying souvenirs. They also have a nursing room at the medical center near the Food Court.
We didn’t get a chance to visit all of the aquariums one by one although Kana was so excited to see the fish. She went straight to the Coral Reef Fish Aquarium which has colorful fish inside.
Near the Coral Reef Fish Aquarium, there was a Touch Pool where we could touch the fish and the sea turtles. We were lucky because when we arrived at the site, it was feeding time for the fish so we were allowed to feed them.
Two divers fed the fish in the main Aquarium. And after that, they continued the attraction at the Touch Pool. Visitors were allowed to feed special sticks that were provided. Although after that, we were not allowed to touch the fish for the next 15 minutes. This is probably because the fish become more aggressive during and after feeding time. Feeding times are at 10.00, 13.30 and 17.00. So if you’d like to try feeding the fish, you better come a few minutes before feeding time starts.
After the Touch Pool, we went inside the tunnel. Once again Kana was amazed with the beautiful view of the main aquarium. The divers were still there feeding the fish.
With the moving walkway, we didn’t need to mind our step while enjoying the view. There were big stingrays and many other fish swimming above us. Accompanied by the instructors, visitors can also dive in the main aquarium .
We also went to the observation deck located on the second floor. This observation deck allow visitors to see the actual size of many extraordinary fish from the top view of the main aquarium. Kana was so excited to see the main aquarium from the observation deck.
Then we went back to the Touch Pool, because Kana wanted to see the sea turtles. She just couldn’t stop looking at them. They were so big, compared to the turtles that we have at home. Kana went back and forth between the Sea Turtles and the Coral Reef Fish.
Finally we went home at 6pm right before they closed. The Sea World is open from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. We had so much fun at the Sea World Indonesia. Although it was a short trip, it was also exciting and memorable.
