Baby Shower: The Happy Tummy Pizza Party

I have always enjoyed organizing events ever since I was in elementary school (if decorating your classroom can be called an event). It’s a love-and-hate relationship when comes to this specific hobby. I love the hassle of finding the theme ideas, the details, imagining the decors gonna be like, etc. On the opposite, I simply hate the D-Day, or you can call it ‘Demam Panggung’, but I absolutely love the compliments afterwards (big grin on my face!).

This time, I want to share you a joyful moments of my 2nd child Baby Shower, which of course, I organized myself. In case you’re not familiar with the term of 'Baby Shower', it’s a way to celebrate the soon-to-be or recent birth of a child by presenting gifts (love this part!) to the mother at the party. The common traditional event of this in Indonesia is known as 'Selamatan tujuh bulanan'.

As this was the 2nd child Baby Shower, I was worried to celebrate it at home. Well, imagine my very active 2 yrs old boy running around and make a mess with the decors. So I decided it had to be at some cozy restaurant. My first idea was actually having a lovely High Tea Party, however I had to face reality that it would be so tiring for myself to back and forward going to the high tea venue as mostly located in south or  central Jakarta (min. 45 mins – 1 hour distance from home). Plus I had to think of my guests which half of them is fulltime mom without nanny or babysitter, leaving me with only option of choosing venue closeby home.

Finally, found the right spot: Pizza Express Marzano, which is only 10 mins from home (perfect!), and they have a package menu with 'Pizza-Making' activities! It got me excited instantly. Once I found the venue, everything else comes easily.

1. Invitation card: as my laptop is not fulfilled with a polished design tools/ apps and I was not willingly buy some downloaded version e.g. from Etsy, I only used a simple Word Doc to make the invitation.

2. The decoration: Light blue, semi dark blue, and green.

3. The favour gift: a lovely flower pot and mini baby bottle filled with jelly beans sweet treats

4. The activities:

-        Pizza making. So much fun and all the guests are truly enjoying it!

-        'Guess Who’s Baby Name' Game: all guests must bring their own pics when they were baby, each then have to guest all the pics name. The winner get a prize!

-        'Guess The Pregnant Host’s Belly Diameter' Game. The closer guess also get a prize!

5. The Sweettooth Corner: mini chocolate eggs

6. The “Fingerprint” Guestbook: specially made by Omemoria, this guestbook will later be attached into the Newborn Photobook which I will make once the baby is born.

7. The Gifts Galore.
